January 23, 2019 – Review good and bad web designs. In class critique and discussion. In class vocabulary worksheet. January 28, 2019 – Lecture on Accessibility and universal design, In-class exercise, auditing a website for accessibility.

January 30, 2019- Lecture, introduction to user experience and creating personas. In class exercise, who is your audience? Here’s a template for a sample persona, use it as a starting point.

Homework: style guide and mood board for your site. All content due for site on Monday, February 25th.

March 18, 2019 – Introducing components and prototyping in Figma. Homework, build out components for your site and add the prototyping tool, export as .pdf and be prepared to show to class on Wednesday, 3/20. You can find Figma tutorials on their channel here

March 20, 2019 –Show sites in Figma prototyping tool. Lecture, Content Management Systems, getting started with WordPress. Pick a theme by the end of class.

March 25, 2019 – In class, rebuild your site (the best you can using free tools) in WordPress

March 27, 2019 – In class Work on WordPress site 

April 1, 2019 – Background information on final project/prep for class visit on Wednesday, Lecture linked here. Put finishing touches on WordPress site, present them at 3:00 in class.

April 3, 2019 –Guest speakers- your client, what they want. documents_for_discussion
Introduce final project- Web redesign for the NM Historic Preservation Alliance. Homework: 6 goals total, 3 goals -what do the clients want to get out of the site? 3 goals- What do users need to get out of the site?

April 8, 2019–Set up your folder. Final Project_your initials. Find a website from the Excel Doc Strategy plane, make your brainstorming list in class & Develop at least 3 personas in class.

April 10, 2019 – Review Personas & develop the scope, take brainstorming list create post-it categories. Homework: Create navigation & wireframe the site, send me the active urls. Don’t forget to save unique urls and email them to me. Here’s the updated Excel doc

April 15, 2019– Discuss user testing and task analysis. Critique 1, Prepare a presentation of structure, navigation & wireframing to share with client by the end of class. Feedback from client re: structure and navigation, review wireframes. In class, the surface plane- look and feel.

April 17, 2019– Work day, develop look and feel and present mood board in class by 3:00.

April 22, 2019 – Start building site in Figma, create components, don’t forget to resize images!

April 24, 2019 –2:00- 3:00pm Guest Speaker Jim Hunyadi Copyright issues. What you need to know when designing for the web! Work day, continue to build out site.

April 29, 2019- Critique 1, work day, continue to build out site.

May 1, 2019- Critique 2, finalize prototype and share with NMHPA by the end of class.
